Poetry Ireland ‘Writers in Schools’
Colm Keegan Inspires Our Students with a Creative Writing Workshop
Renowned poet and writer Colm Keegan recently visited Newbridge College to lead an engaging creative writing workshop with students. The session offered a unique opportunity for budding writers to explore their poetic talents under the guidance of one of Ireland's most respected literary figures.
Keegan's workshop encouraged students to think deeply about their personal experiences, harnessing their emotions and observations to fuel their creativity. The students were guided through various techniques for writing poetry, helping them develop a fresh perspective on self-expression.
What made the session particularly impactful was the emphasis on sharing. After crafting their poems, students had the chance to read their work aloud to the group, fostering a sense of community and mutual support. Keegan's warm and approachable manner created a safe environment for students to be vulnerable with their writing, further enriching the workshop experience.
The morning was a resounding success, leaving students inspired and more confident in their abilities to write and share their creative voices. Keegan’s visit highlighted the power of poetry to connect, inspire and reflect upon the world around us.
