Newbridge College are delighted to announce that Rhys Ruddock is joining the Senior rugby coaching ticket for the forthcoming season. Rhys will be our new defense coach and will work alongside Johne Murphy who is our Director of Rugby and Senior Head Coach.
Rhys has achieved so much in his rugby playing career with over 225 Leinster caps, 27 caps for Ireland and he travelled to two Rugby World Cups. He has won 6 URC championships, 3 Champions Cups, and one Challenge Cup.
"I am delighted to be joining the coaching ranks in Newbridge College, over the last few seasons I have seen some amazing players come through the school. Rugby has seen a massive growth in Newbridge as well as achieving a number of accolades and this has ensured that the school has punched above its weight within the schools system." Rhys added "I have known Johne since touring Australia in 2010 and our approach to the game is very similar. I look forward to working with all the coaches and the players for what promises to be a fascinating season."
Rhys was involved in the Leinster U18 Schools team last year as forwards coach and will bring a huge amount of on and off field experience to the squad.
"Having someone of Rhys's experience working in the coaching team is something we are all looking forward too. Rhys was much sought after by numerous schools and I am delighted that he has decided to join us in Newbridge College." commented Johne Murphy, Director of Rugby and Senior Head Coach. "Thanks to the school under Mr Pat O'Brien and the wider school community in supporting us to make this appointment. We look forward to having Rhys in our team when pre-season kicks off during the summer."
