RACE - Exam Accommodations

The RACE scheme is a system that ensures students with special educational needs are given the necessary support so that they can fairly participate in their state examinations. It does this by implementing reasonable accommodations, to remove any barriers they face, and is overseen by the State Examinations Commission. It is a school-based process where the school will apply on the student’s behalf. The scheme is not intended to provide an advantage, but to enable students to participate and have their skills assessed as fairly as possible.

The scheme provides accommodations for candidates with a variety of complex special educational needs including learning difficulties as well as permanent or temporary physical, visual, hearing, medical, sensory, emotional, behavioural needs or other conditions.
