Leinster Senior League Semi-Final v Cistercian College, Roscrea

The Senior 1sts headed to Donnybrook for a League semi-final against Cistercian College, Roscrea. The College saw a Billy Cross penalty come back off the post before he converted for an early 3-0 lead. Roscrea missed a penalty before the College rumbled over from a lineout and Lee Fitzpatrick dotted down for 5. The Tipperary side narrowed the gap with two penalties. As the clock wound down on an exciting, physical half Dan Cox dived over for the last play to leave it 13 - 6. The second half saw the College push further ahead with a Cross penalty. But the southerners rallied and bagged 7 points to get back within 3. The College showed great fight when they hit straight back when Paddy Neary won the restart and was on hand to take a pass shortly after and finished well to round his opposite number and head under the posts. Cross put the College 10 points up with the conversion. Once again Roscrea hit back when they reacted quickest to a stray College pass and collected 7 points. Soon after the College were back in the opposition’s 22. Cross made a break for the line but came up short before getting over in the corner two phases later for 5 points. Roscrea were not done and they enjoyed all of the territory in the closing minutes and narrowed the gap to the minimum in injury time. But the College controlled the final stages and ran out 28 - 27 winners in the end in what was a serious and physical test for them in what was a great advert for the game.

Special mentions go to Jonathan Fardy, Jamie Bohan, Brion Donohue, Kyle Kelly, Ben O’Connor and Paddy Neary.

Leinster Junior League Quarter Final v Presentation College Bray

Our Juniors hosted Pres Bray in the quarter final of this year's Leinster School's Junior League on a cold and crispy day in Newbridge. First half tries from Donal Larkin, Eoin Gibbons and Ryan Crawford saw us take a commanding lead with a single penalty all that Pres Bray could manage to register. Gibbons converted one try for a 17:3 lead. But before half time, Pres scored a converted try to bring them back to within a score at the break. In the second half, Saul Brewster, Ollie Kelly (with 2) and Jack Scott made sure that that single score was as close as Pres got and sealed a fine victory, Gibbons adding one conversion. Next up is a semi final clash with Kilkenny College on neutral soil at a time and date that has yet to be confirmed. Final score Newbridge 39 Pres Bray 10

Ellers v CBC Monkstown

The Eller B's had a great win after a tough outing last week. They improved in many areas such as their tackling and passing which was great to see. The game finished 27-7 to Newbridge. There were no individual standout players . It was an all-round solid team performance.
