Debating and public speaking are enriching extracurricular activities at Newbridge College that empower students to think critically, communicate effectively, and develop self-confidence. These skills are invaluable both inside and outside the classroom, fostering leadership and creativity in students of all ages.
Junior students can get started by participating in our fun and engaging in-house competitions, while senior students can aim for the spotlight in prestigious national and regional events, including the Concern Debates, the Soroptimist Girls’ Public Speaking competition, PhilSpeaks (Mace), and the SETU Carlow/SCSI Open Day Secondary School Debating Competition. Over the years, our school has celebrated exceptional achievements, such as winning the National Concern Debates, Joutes Oratoires Francophones, and regional Soroptimist Public Speaking Competitions.
